Gala 2010
Looking back at 2010: Thanks to all the people who served in any capacity in producing Bras for the Cause Gala 2010—sponsoring, donating, volunteering or attending. Every single person who participated in any way is responsible for the overwhelming success of the evening. And, it was, without a doubt, wildly successful.
Diligent committee chairs began working almost a year ago, and literally hundreds of volunteers jumped in to help at every imaginable level from washing and ironing to starring roles as "beauties" or "beasties" during the event. Their ability to laugh at themselves and welcome everyone to laugh with them brought whimsy and warmth to an evening with a serious purpose: to raise enough money to ensure that every Iowan who needs a mammogram or cervical screening can get one. More than 600 people attended Gala 2010. Over 100 baskets with decorated bras, goodies and services were sold at auction, and enough money for at least 200 mammograms was raised spontaneously during the event. Final figures for the Gala haven't yet been tallied, but the figures should be impressive. Give yourselves a big pat on the back and applause for your generosity.
-- Many thanks, again from Gala Chair Marcia Munger and the entire Board of Directors for Bras for the Cause
