Bras for the Cause Gala - Oct. 11, 2018

The Bras for the Cause Gala is the signature fundraising event of the year. Join us for a memorable evening of exciting entertainment, elegant dining and the opportunity to bid on both live and silent "Bra" auction packages.

Job Opportunity - Program Coordinator

Position Title: program coordinator

Overview of Position

Bras for the Cause Iowa Foundation, Inc. (BFTC) a nonprofit 501(c)(3) foundation is looking for a program coordinator to head our fundraising and outreach efforts. Reporting to the board of directors, and working as an independent contractor, the BFTC program coordinator would be responsible for securing funds through grantmaking organizations, donors, and corporate sponsorships as well as building and expanding BFTC’s network of health care providers and community partners across the state with the goal of building capacity for hosting events and awareness of BFTC’s work as well as transitioning BFTC to a true statewide organization.

Responsibilities

Fundraising

  • Become familiar with current funding needs, current funding streams, and the work that has been done to raise funds in the past by BFTC as well as current grantees
    • Sort through BFTC archives, in particular those related to the BFTC gala

    • Organize current grantee applications and maintain current grantee files

  • Secure grant funding
    • Investigate grant possibilities with local, regional and national foundations, timeline for grant application submission

    • Initiate first contact with grantmaking organizations, remain in communication with granter throughout application process, submit follow-up paperwork and thank-you

    • Draft first version, edit, receive board approval for, and finalize grant applications to appropriate funders

    • Maintain record of relevant grants, pending applications, and history of grants applied to through a spreadsheet or grant tracking program

  • Secure donations from individuals and corporate sponsorships
    • Network to identify potential donors, make initial contact

    • Develop and maintain relationships with donors and corporations

    • Solicit donations, submit follow-up paperwork and grant report

    • Participate in online donation days and oversee all related correspondence

    • Manage donor recognition program through the implementation of a donor newsletter, thank you notes, and phone and email correspondence

    • Maintain record of current donors, past donors as well as donor contact information through a spreadsheet or donor tracking program

Outreach

  • Foster relationships with mammography centers and hospitals across Iowa in order to build a statewide presence
  • Craft templates for hospital correspondence, fundraising procedures and policies, and events
  • Maintain contacts with statewide mammography providers through routine letters, phone calls, and email
  • In collaboration with partner organizations, plan and execute fundraising events statewide throughout the year
  • Represent BFTC at community events, volunteer fairs, and networking opportunities
  • Oversee other communications while maintaining the BFTC brand

Other

  • Oversee student interns and maintain paperwork and documentation for internships
  • Serve as ex officio member of the board of directors and member of the gala committee
  • Maintain day-to- day program operations as well as phone, email, and mail
  • Ensure ongoing programming excellence, rigorous program evaluation and management
  • Regularly evaluate program components and make recommendations for improvement

Qualifications

  • A commitment to BFTC’s mission and goals
  • Demonstrated success at fundraising through sponsorships, donors, and grants
  • Experience working in the nonprofit sector, for a health-related nonprofit preferred
  • Experience in communications, outreach, or public relations
  • Ability to work independently, maintain open communication with board of directors
  • Experience managing events, in particular fundraising events, preferred


Time Commitment

Flexible hours for a total of 20 hours per week
Compensation: $17,000 a year with a 10% bonus for each $10,000 in new sponsorships raised.
