Bra Artist FAQs
Who can decorate or design a bra?
Anyone! It could be you, your relatives or friends, a professional or budding artist, a celebrity or someone who simply wants to participate in a meaningful way.
What are the guidelines?
There is no limit to what you can do. Your bra can be simple, complex, decorated or designed. Serious or whimsical, it is up to you to choose what you want to do and what materials to use. More than 100 entries were submitted last year.
Is it a contest?
No, although participating artists who are able to attend the Gallery of Bras Artists’ Reception prior to the Gala vote on their top choices, which may be included on note cards or other items produced by Bras for the Cause. In addition, a "popular vote" is open to all visitors who stop by the Gallery of Bras.
How are the bras sold?
They are auctioned off. Every bra will find a home. The top Artists’ Choices are auctioned as stand-alones while all the others are combined as integral parts of exciting packages such as travel, vacations, goods, services, etc. To further raise funds, the Artists’ Choices have previously been featured annually in a calendar for the following year. This year the Choices will be on note cards. (Look for them a month or two after the Gala.)
What happens to the money raised?
All funds raised go toward fulfilling the mission of Bras for the Cause to help screen, detect, treat and cure breast and cervical cancers. BFTC is completely a volunteer effort.
Do I have to use any special bra?
No, you can make your own, buy one or obtain one for free. When you register, you should contact the Bra Chair to request a bra. Please indicate what size (sm/med/lg/x-lg) and color you would like. If it’s available, the Bra Chair will make sure that you get it. Make sure to include your name, address, phone and e-mail address.
How do I register?
Register online or download the registration form to fill out and send by email to the Bra Chair. You will receive an email confirmation (or confirmation by mail if you registered by mail).
When and where does my finished bra go?
